Verified Purchase. A recent trip to Asia left me craving authentic Asian food once I returned home. What better time than now to give this cookbook a whirl, after it had been collecting dust on my bookshelf for the past year. The concept behind this cookbook is intriguing - collecting recipes from Asian grandmothers which may otherwise not be written down. The first chapter has a good intro to the "basics" of Asian cooking, along with pictures of the more common vegetables and grains used.

And most recipes are easy enough for the beginner cook while offering a foundation to build from for the novice. There are also author and "grandmother" notes at the end of recipes when relevant. So far, I've tried a few recipes and have been happy with them. Some dishes have turned out better than others.
Another plus is the variety of recipes from different Asian cultures. I can't wait to cook my way through the rest of recipes in this book! January 21, - Published on Amazon.
I bought this as a gift for my sister and after I looked through it before wrapping it I became so jealous! Not only does it have a huge variety of different Asian culture foods, but it also has the basic steps of doing pretty much everything: from cleaning rice properly to picking the correct noodle for your dish.

Then this book blew my mind when it actually had biography's of real Asian grandmothers! Not only could you learn about these amazing ladies but you could also follow their own recipes for their favorite meal! If you have any doubts about buying this book, don't!
I might even have to buy one for myself! Patricia had done a spectacular job on writing this book.gelatocottage.sg/includes/2020-07-22/27.php

I hate it when you buy a cookbook and the author sometimes purposely leave out certain ingredients or steps because they do not want to review all of their secrets but with this book you will not have to worry about that because grandmothers never lie! I have tried out a few of the recipes and they are so yummy and most importantly they WORK!
I highly recommend this book to whoever love to cook asian food and who else is better to learn how to cook than our grandmothers right? The pictures are beautifully done in this book too. It is a must have in your cookbook library!
